Bisi Bele Bhaat

An elaborate dish, low in sugar with health benefits of all Indian spices, BisiBele Bath is the most finger-licking traditional meal. It originated from the Palace of Mysore and spread across Karnataka, never leaving its popularity since then. Interestingly some versions of the dish are prepared from more than 30 ingredients. This recipe is an easier preparation, without losing its original flavor. 

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Chana dal
  • 1 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 2 tbsp Urad dal
  • 2 tbsp Cumin
  • 2 tbsp Fenugreek
  • 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp Poppy seeds
  • 2-3 Pepper
  • 2-3 Cardamom
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon
  • 2-3 Cloves
  • Oil
  • Dried red chili
  • Curry leaves
Method
  • Take chana dal in a pan
  • Add urad dal, coriander seeds, cloves, black pepper, cumin, cinnamon, poppy seeds, and dried red chilies. Roast them
  • Grind everything with ½ tsp haldi
  • Take toor dal, Gajraj Royale Kesari Rawa and water. Pressure cook until 2-3 whistles
  • In a pot add oil, cumin, chopped onions, and peas
  • Add water
  • Add daal rawa mix
  • Mix well
  • Add ground masala
  • Add red chili powder
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes and garnish with coriander
  • Bisi bele baath is ready to be served
